What To Expect
When you bring your feline or canine to our clinic, our veterinarian will discuss with you if your pet can undergo the surgical procedure. Your pet's age, size, health, and whether he or she is vaccinated may be factors in determining when surgery can take place.
Cat Spaying
Age-wise, kittens can have the procedure at 6 to 8 weeks old, but it is usually performed most often between the ages of 5 and 6 months.
Dog Spaying
For puppies, their size is a determining factor. For small and medium-sized dogs, the range is five to six months old before they experience their first heat cycle. For larger dogs weighing more than 45 pounds, the age range for the procedure for males is 9 to 15 months. For females, it is 5 to 15 months.
Your pet will receive a thorough check-up prior to the surgery, and vaccinations will be administered if necessary. If your pet is eligible for surgery, instructions to be followed the day before the procedure will be provided to you.
On the appointed day, your cat or dog, puppy, or kitten will be placed in our care, where our team of caring and compassionate professionals will make sure your pet feels safe, secure, and comfortable.
After surgery in the morning, we will keep our eyes on your fur friend to ensure all is well before sending him or her home that afternoon. Before leaving our clinic, you will be provided with instructions on how to take care of your canine or feline once he or she is home.
